How Limbo plays

  1. Set your bet.
  2. Tap to play. The result is decided the moment you play.
  3. The animation is the reveal. You win your bet times the multiplier shown.

The rule people miss: 0x means no win. Anything above 0x pays your bet times that number.

Limbo is the simplest multiplier game: you choose a target multiplier, play once, and the game rolls a random multiplier. If the roll reaches your target you win your bet times the target; if it falls short you lose the bet.

Coins are virtual and have no cash value. Limbo shares the exact roll distribution of Crash: How It Works, Odds and Payouts, so if you understand one, you understand both.

How a round works

  1. Set your bet.
  2. Set a target multiplier from 1.01x to 50,000x, in steps of 0.01.
  3. Play. The roll is decided on our servers the moment you tap.
  4. If the roll is at least your target, you win exactly the target. Otherwise the bet is lost.

You win your target, not the roll. A roll of 640x pays you only the 2.00x you asked for.

The odds: chance against payout

The chance that the roll reaches a target t is 0.97 divided by t. That is why every target has the same average return.

Multiply the second column by the fourth and you always get 0.97. That is the RTP of 97%, and you cannot find a target where it is higher.

A worked example

Bet 200 coins at a 5.00x target. You win with probability 19.40%, which is about one round in five, and each win pays 1,000 coins. A hundred such rounds cost 20,000 coins; on average they return 19,400.

The same bet at 1.50x wins 64.67% of the time for 300 coins each. A hundred rounds cost 20,000 and return 19,400 on average. The returns are equal, but the second feels very different: wins arrive about twice out of three rounds, and five misses in a row has a 0.55% chance at 1.50x against 34% at 5.00x.

Where Limbo comes from

Behind the screen is the same crash-style roll Crash uses, so a Limbo roll can be as low as 1.00x (3.96% of rolls) and, rarely, enormous. Because you choose a fixed target, you never see the climb. Two other games use the same roll with a different presentation: Mystic Booth: How It Works, Odds and Payouts turns bands of the roll into tarot cards, and High Striker: How It Works, Odds and Payouts began as a Limbo target game but now pays from its own table of heights. Compare Dice: How It Works, Odds and Payouts, which lets you choose the chance instead of the multiplier but has a hard 98% ceiling.

Max win and caps

The top target of 50,000x is the game-wide payout limit: no single round pays more than 50,000x the bet or 250,000,000 coins. A large bet can reach the coin cap before the multiplier cap. Both limits are listed on the odds page, and the family explanation is in How Crash Games Work: Multipliers, Cash Out, Odds and How cash-out games work.

Tips that hold up

  • The target is a taste, not a tactic. Every target returns 97% on average.
  • Low targets are not safe. A 1.01x target loses 1 round in 25, and it only pays 1 coin on every 100 you stake.
  • High targets are not "due". A 1,000x target does not become likelier after a long run of misses.
  • Do not size bets to chase. Raising the bet after a loss changes how much you can lose, not the odds.

Frequently asked questions

What is the chance of winning at a given target?

0.97 divided by the target. A 2.00x target wins 48.5% of the time, 10.00x wins 9.7%, and 100.00x wins 0.97%.

What is the lowest and highest target I can set?

1.01x to 50,000x, in steps of 0.01. The highest target wins about 1 time in 51,546.
