Dice: How It Works, Odds and Payouts

Dice in Cashout Arcade: roll over or under a number you choose. Win chances from 1% to 98%, the multiplier for each, and why a 98% win pays under 1x.

How Dice plays

  1. Pick Under or Over.
  2. Drag the thumb along the track, or use the plus, minus and percent buttons, to set your number. The green part of the track is your win zone.
  3. Roll. You win if the roll lands in the green.

The rule people miss: A smaller green zone pays more. The win chance runs from 1% to 98%. Over wins on your number or higher, under wins below it.

Pick your win chance with the − and + buttons or by tapping the track. Roll Over wins above the line, Roll Under below it. The lower the chance, the more a win pays.

Dice is an instant game where you set your own win chance. You choose Over or Under, move the line along a track from 1% to 98%, and roll a number between 0.00 and 99.99. If the roll lands in the green part of the track you win, and the smaller that green zone, the more a win pays.

Coins are virtual and have no cash value. The roll is decided on our servers when you tap.

How a round works

  1. Pick Under or Over.
  2. Set your win chance by dragging the thumb along the track, tapping it, or using the plus and minus buttons. The green part of the track is your win zone.
  3. Roll. If the roll falls inside the green zone, you win the multiplier shown.

The roll is a whole number from 0 to 9,999, displayed with two decimals. With Under, you win on rolls below your line; with Over, on rolls at or above the matching line at the top. A win chance is set to two decimals between 1.00% and 98.00%, and it covers exactly that share of the 10,000 possible numbers.

The payout for every chance

The multiplier is 0.97 divided by your win chance, shown rounded down to two decimals. Halve the chance and you almost double the payout.

The top payout is 97x at a 1% chance. The same chance on Over or Under gives the same payout.

Why a win can pay less than your bet

Look at the last row. At a 98% win chance the multiplier is 0.9897x (shown as 0.98x): you win 98 rounds in 100 and still get back slightly less than you staked on each of them. That is not a bug. The average return of any setting is chance times multiplier, and 0.98 x 0.9897 = 0.97. Break-even on a single round happens at a 97% win chance (1.00x), so anything above that pays under 1x.

A worked example

You set Under 25.00, a 25% chance, with a 400-coin bet. The multiplier is 0.97 / 0.25 = 3.88x. Rolls from 0.00 to 24.99 win (2,500 of 10,000), and a win pays 1,552 coins. A hundred such rounds cost 40,000 coins and return, on average, 25 wins x 1,552 = 38,800.

Switch to Over 75.00 and nothing changes: the green zone is again 25% of the track, at the other end. The only decision that matters is the size of the green zone.

What is the same as other multiplier games

Dice is Limbo: How It Works, Odds and Payouts with the choice flipped: Limbo asks for a multiplier and gives you the chance, Dice asks for the chance and gives you the multiplier. The pay curve is the same 0.97 divided by chance. Coin Flip: How It Works, Odds and Payouts stacks a 50% choice into a streak. For the idea of a random roll, see What Is an RNG? How Random Number Generators Work.

Max win and caps

Dice tops out at 97x, because the lowest chance is 1%. That is well under the game-wide limits of 50,000x and 250,000,000 coins per round. The odds page lists the shared rules.

Tips that hold up

  • Win chance is the whole choice. Over or under, a 50% setting is just a fair coin that pays 1.94x.
  • Do not read patterns into rolls. Ten Overs in a row do not make an Under likelier.
  • Do not set 98% to feel safe. A near-certain win that pays 0.99x is a slow way to lose 3%.
  • Small chances are rare by design. At 1%, about 37% of 100-round sessions have no win at all (0.99 to the power of 100).

Play with limits

Because rounds are instant and the controls are quick, it is easy to roll many times. Pick a limit first and see Play Safely in Cashout Arcade: Limits and Breaks for tools to enforce it. Cashout Arcade is for adults aged 18+ and uses virtual coins with no real-money prizes.

Frequently asked questions

Is rolling over or under better?

Neither. At the same win chance both pay the same multiplier and win equally often.

What is the highest win chance I can set?

98%. At that setting a win pays 0.9897x (shown as 0.98x), slightly less than your bet, because 97% is the break-even chance for a 3% house edge.

What numbers does the roll use?

A whole number from 0 to 9,999, shown as 0.00 to 99.99, so a 50.00% chance covers exactly 5,000 of the 10,000 possible rolls.

Can I win real money?

No. Coins are virtual and have no cash value.
