How Coin Flip plays
- Pick heads or tails and flip.
- Every correct call raises the multiplier. The Next value shows what the next win pays.
- Tap Cash out between flips to keep the multiplier shown.
The rule people miss: One wrong call ends the round: you lose the bet.
Coin Flip is the simplest way to see how a cash-out game works. You call heads or tails and flip. A correct call doubles your multiplier (less the house edge), a wrong call ends the round and loses the bet, and after any correct call you can cash out and keep the multiplier shown.
Coins are virtual and have no cash value. "Cash out" only means locking in the multiplier you have built on your bet.
How a round works
- Pick heads or tails and flip.
- A correct call raises the multiplier. The Next value shows what the next win would pay.
- Cash out between flips to keep the multiplier shown.
- One wrong call ends the round and the bet is lost. A streak of 15 correct calls completes the round at the top multiplier.
All 15 coin results are tossed on the server when the round starts, so the side you pick does not matter and tapping again cannot re-toss a coin.
The streak table
After n correct calls, the chance of getting that far is 0.5^n and the multiplier is 0.97 / 0.5^n, which is 0.97 x 2^n.
| Correct flips | Chance of the streak | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 50% | 1.94x |
| 2 | 25% | 3.88x |
| 3 | 12.5% | 7.76x |
| 4 | 6.25% | 15.52x |
| 5 | 3.125% (1 in 32) | 31.04x |
| 6 | 1.56% | 62.08x |
| 7 | 0.78% | 124.16x |
| 8 | 0.39% | 248.32x |
| 9 | 0.195% | 496.64x |
| 10 | 0.098% (1 in 1,024) | 993.28x |
| 11 | 0.049% | 1,986.56x |
| 12 | 0.024% | 3,973.12x |
| 13 | 0.012% | 7,946.24x |
| 14 | 0.006% | 15,892.48x |
| 15 | 0.003% (1 in 32,768) | 31,784.96x |
Why there is no 16th flip
A 16th correct call would multiply the previous 31,784.96x by two, giving 63,569.92x, which is over the game-wide payout limit of 50,000x the bet. A round that offered it would pay less than the number on screen, so the game ends the round after flip 15 and pays 31,784.96x. No round in any game pays more than 50,000x the bet or 250,000,000 coins.
A worked example
You bet 100 coins and call four flips right: the multiplier is 15.52x, which is 1,552 coins. The chance of that happening was 6.25%, one round in 16. If you take the fifth flip you stand to win 31.04x (3,104 coins) with a 50% chance or lose everything with a 50% chance. The average of that choice is 0.5 x 3,104 = 1,552 coins, exactly what you were already holding. That is the key fact about this game: at every step the choice to continue is a 50/50 for double, and you already hold the average.
What is the same as other cash-out games
Coin Flip is the stripped-down version of the pricing used in Tower: How It Works, Odds and Payouts (where Hard mode is the same 50% each floor, capped at nine floors) and HiLo: How It Works, Odds and Payouts (where the chance changes with each card). Dice: How It Works, Odds and Payouts lets you set one chance on its own. Because every flip is independent, the streak cannot be read: see Gambler's Fallacy and Streak Myths in Casino Games for why a run of heads does not make tails "due". The shared limits are on the odds page.
Max win and caps
The biggest Coin Flip win is 31,784.96x the bet, reached about once in 32,768 rounds. A bet above 7,865 coins would reach the 250,000,000-coin cap first, and the payout would be capped there (250,000,000 divided by 31,784.96).
Tips that hold up
- Your call is irrelevant. Heads and tails are the same; do not follow a "pattern".
- Decide your target before the first flip. A rule like "stop at 4 flips" removes the pull of one more.
- Remember what the table says. Your chance of reaching flip 5 is about 3%; a session that regularly gets there is lucky, not skilled.
- Doubling up is the same as holding. The game is always fair at the 97% line, never better.
Play with limits
Streaks produce vivid near-misses and it is easy to chase a lost one. Set a limit before you start and see Play Safely in Cashout Arcade: Limits and Breaks for tools. Cashout Arcade is for adults aged 18+, uses virtual coins and has no real-money prizes.
Frequently asked questions
Is heads or tails more likely?
Neither. Each flip is 50/50, and your call does not change that. The side you pick has no effect on the result.
Why is the first flip worth 1.94x and not 2x?
Because the game pays 0.97 divided by the chance of the streak. One flip has a 50% chance, so it pays 0.97 / 0.5 = 1.94x. That 3% shortfall is the house edge.
Why does it stop at 15 flips?
A 16th flip would pay 63,569.92x, which passes the 50,000x payout limit. The game ends the round at flip 15 so it never promises more than it can pay.
Can I win real money?
No. Coins are virtual and have no cash value.
