How Top Floor plays

  1. Pull the lever to pick the storm. More power cuts per 26 floors means bigger pays.
  2. Tap Going Up. Then Ride goes up one floor and Express goes up five.
  3. Each floor shows what it pays. Tap Cash out at any floor to keep it.
  4. Reach floor 26, the Penthouse, for the top prize.

The rule people miss: If the power is cut on a floor, the car sticks and you lose the bet. Express does not stop on the way, but it pays the same as five single rides.

Top Floor is a ladder game set in a grand hotel lift. You pick how stormy the night is, then ride the car up one floor at a time. Each floor pays more than the one below. If the power is cut on a floor, the car sticks and the bet is lost. You can step off at any floor and keep what that floor pays.

Coins are virtual with no cash value. Floor 26 is called the Penthouse, and reaching it ends the round at the top pay for the storm level you chose.

How a round works

  1. Pull the lever to choose a storm level: Calm, Breezy, Storm, Thunder or Blackout. This sets how many of the 26 floors lose power on average.
  2. Tap Going Up to place the bet. Then tap Ride to go up one floor, or Express to go up five.
  3. Each floor shows what it pays. Tap Cash out at any floor to take that pay.
  4. If a floor has lost power, the car sticks there and the round ends with the bet lost. Reach floor 26 and the round ends at the top pay.

Every floor's power is drawn on our servers when the round starts. Riding only reveals what was already decided, so the timing of your taps and the speed of the car change nothing.

The storm levels

Each floor is its own draw with a fixed chance of a power cut. A higher level just means a higher chance per floor.

What the floors pay

The pay on floor k is 97% divided by the chance of reaching it, rounded down to four decimals. That is why the pays grow faster at higher levels.

The Blackout Penthouse is the biggest Top Floor pay, 13,771.89x the bet. Reaching it takes 26 safe floors in a row, about a 1 in 14,198 chance.

Worked example

You bet 100 coins at Storm. Each floor has a 15.38% chance of a power cut. You ride to floor 10, which pays 5.1555x, and step off with about 515 coins. Only 18.81% of Storm rounds get that far. Had you tapped Ride once more, the chance of a cut on that one floor was 15.38%, and a cut would have lost the 515 coins.

With Express you could have jumped from floor 5 to floor 10 in one tap. The result is the same as five Rides: the car sticks if any of the five floors has lost power, which happens in about 56.6% of Storm Express moves.

Max win and limits

The top pay is 13,771.89x at Blackout. The game-wide limits of 50,000x the bet and 250,000,000 coins per round are higher than any Top Floor result, so they never apply here. Volatility is very high: most of a Blackout round's return sits in floors that few rounds ever reach.

What matters and what does not

  • Storm level: shapes how swingy the game is. It does not change the 97%.
  • Where you step off: sets the size of a win, not the long-run return. Because each floor is priced from the chance of reaching it, no stopping floor returns more than 97% over time.
  • Ride or Express: the same return. Express is faster and gives you no chance to stop on the way, nothing more.
  • Earlier floors: a run of safe floors does not make a cut more or less likely. See the gambler's fallacy.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Ride and Express?

Ride moves the car up one floor. Express moves it up five floors with no stop between, so a power cut on any of the five floors sticks the car. Express pays the same as five single rides, so it changes how fast you go, not the average return.

Which storm level is best?

None of them. Every level returns 97% over time. A higher level means more power cuts per 26 floors, so the pays climb faster and the chance of reaching a high floor falls.

Can I see which floors will cut out?

Not during a round. Every floor's power is decided on our servers when the round starts, and the cut floors are only shown at the end.

Does a long run of safe floors make a cut more likely?

No. Each floor has the same chance of a power cut in a given round, whatever happened on the floors before it.
